SUMMARY:Six Bridges to the Sea - Drive it Day Run
DESCRIPTION:A Drive it Day Run with lunch for BVAC Club Members. This will be a run on Sunday 23rd April from Milestone Garden Centre\, Newtown St. Boswells to Berwick on Tweed\, with lunch close to Cocklawburn beach.\nThe route will include six bridges on the river Tweed though probably not the one illustrated as rebuilding works continue on the Union Chain Bridge and it is not now due to open until just after our Run. Lunch is available for the first 40 persons to register for the event. We will try not to turn you away but may have to ask some to bring a picnic or take their chances on finding lunch available. \nMore details and how to book will appear in the March Newsletter so get ready for action on this one. \n

DESCRIPTION:Join fellow members for a specially arranged visit to a specialist Classic car garage where cars are bought\, sold and restored. \nFraser Ewart of Grandisons Garage\, Whitecraig\, EH21 8NE has very kindly invited us to visit his establishment for an evening visit on Wednesday 24th May\, 2023\, 7pm for 7.15pm. \nWhitecraig village is off to the right from the A68 shortly before you reach the Edinburgh ring road. \nThis is a substantial dealership where a range of Classic cars are always in stock. Additionally there are often various restoration jobs at different stages. It’s sure to be a fascinating visit and well worth the journey. Run approximately 54 miles – scenic back roads with panoramas of Borders scenery (weather permitting). The route will be carefully described and your task will be to gather information and answer questions about things that you pass. There will be no time limit and nothing to be gained by travelling at speed – indeed you might easily miss things if you do. DESCRIPTION:BVAC Ltd; Annual General Meeting\nWednesday 16th October 2024\, Earlston Church Hall \nThis is an important meeting in the annual cycle of events for the Club at which we conduct business (briefly) that enables us to function legally and in accordance with necessary regulations for the coming year.\nIt is usually well supported and all members are warmly encouraged to attend. Following official business there is the opportunity for members to raise and discuss matters in an ‘Open Forum’ discussion. \nAll members will receive official notification of the meeting with necessary documentation sent via email from the Club Secretary in good time before the event. \nThere are some important roles to be filled for the coming year as some long serving officers and Committee members are standing down. Members are urged to give due consideration to the notifications that the Club Secretary will send out to see in what ways they might help the Club.

SUMMARY:Drive It Day and Afternoon Tea Sunday 27th April 2025
DESCRIPTION:National Drive It Day is the date where all classic car owners are encouraged to take their vehicles out onto the roads promoted by the FBHVC. \nThis year the BVAC members will enjoy a run from Milestone Garden Centre\, Newtown St. Boswells through the Border’s countryside of the Ale\, Ettrick\, Yarrow and Tweed valleys to the destination of The Barony Castle Hotel\, Eddlestone where they can enjoy afternoon tea in the private dining room of the hotel. There is space for a maximum of 60 people for the afternoon tea and it will cost £25.00 per person payable to the Club bank account. \nDONT DELAY IN BOOKING AS THE HOTEL REQUIRES CONFIRMED NUMBERS BY 14TH APRIL. \nYou don’t have to book afternoon tea to enjoy the drive! \nAll members are welcome to join in the drive – which is free to participate\, and everyone will receive a tulip map book for directions of the route and a display plaque for their car. The Barony Castle has within their grounds the attraction of the famous stone map of Scotland created by Polish soldiers billeted in the original house\, so there’s another reason for coming along. \nArrive at Milestone as early as you want in order to get coffee or breakfast and catch up with the other members. The first car on the run will be sent off at approximately 11:30 and even on a gentle and unhurried drive should take about 2 hours for the 61 mile distance of the route. DESCRIPTION:Trip Update \nWe are now taking our Drive-it-Day run from Kelso Square to visit the Belford Car Show in the late morning\, followed by afternoon tea in Wooler\, having confirmed a booking with the Canny Owl Restaurant & Bar. \nWe will travel the back roads from Kelso via Mindrummill\, Millfield\, Kimmerston\, Lowick\, Fenwick\, and Detchant to arrive at the Belford Car Show around midday. After a couple of hours looking round the show we will leave Belford to go to Wooler and the Canny Owl where I have estimated our arrival between 2.30pm and 3.00pm ready for afternoon teas. Departure from Wooler will be at your own time and to make your own way home. DESCRIPTION:Closing date for form entries is Monday 13th July.\nThe annual Club BBQ will again be held at Ken & Helen Grimes house in Tweedbank Ley\, Innerleithen. This will be a joint event with members of JEC. Arrive as you want between 4pm and 4.30pm and join in the camaraderie and the BBQ will be served from around 5pm. \nKen’s BBQ grilling skills are well known and there is plenty of sides and salads to go with the freshly cooked meats. All catering will be at your own organising and expense so have what you want when you want it. \nThis will be a gentle run out from Kelso using the A698/A697 and across via Ford and Lowick to cross over the A1 at the Lindisfarne Inn and service station to get to the Barn at Beal just before the crossing causeway.
