Terms & Conditions

The terms that apply when you buy tickets from us or use this website, written as plainly as we can.

Last updated: October 2026

These terms explain what you can expect when you buy tickets from us, and when you use this website. We have kept them as short and plain as we can. Please read them before placing an order.

1.About us

This website is run by The Borders Vintage Automobile Club (“BVAC”, “we”, “us”), trading as Borders Vintage and Classic. We organise the BVAC Classic Festival of Motoring at Thirlestane Castle, Lauder, along with club events throughout the year.

BVAC is a private company limited by guarantee without share capital, registered in Scotland with company number SC079332. Our registered office is Myco, 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh EH2 4AN.

2.These terms

These terms apply to tickets and other items bought through bvac.org.uk, and to your use of the website. By placing an order you confirm that you accept them. Your order is governed by the version of these terms in place when you placed it.

If you are buying tickets for other people, please make sure they are aware of the conditions of entry in section 7.

3.Buying tickets

Your order

Your order is accepted, and a contract formed between you and us, when we email you to confirm it. Please check the confirmation carefully and let us know straight away if anything is wrong.

Prices

Ticket prices are shown on the website and include any VAT that applies. Early-booking prices are available only during the dates shown. The price you pay is the price on the website when you place your order. We cannot refund the difference if prices change after you have booked.

Under 16s go free when accompanied by an adult, and do not need a ticket.

Payment

Card payments are processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.

4.Your e-ticket

Your tickets are emailed to you as soon as your payment is confirmed. If you have not received them within 24 hours, please check your junk folder and then contact us.

  • Each ticket has its own QR code and admits one adult, once. It will be scanned on entry.
  • You can show your ticket on your phone or bring a printed copy.
  • Once a ticket has been scanned, any copies of it will not be accepted, so please keep your tickets safe and do not share images of them online.
  • Only buy tickets from this website. We may refuse entry to anyone with a ticket that has been copied, altered or bought from an unauthorised seller.

5.Cancelling your order

Tickets are for a leisure event on a specific date, so the 14-day cancellation period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply. Tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged unless we cancel or reschedule the event (see section 6).

6.If the event is cancelled, rescheduled or changed

If the event is cancelled, rescheduled or materially changed, we will make every reasonable effort to let you know using the contact details on your order. We cannot guarantee that you will hear from us before the event date, so please check this website for the latest information before you travel.

If the event is cancelled

If the event is cancelled in full and not rescheduled, your order will be cancelled and we will refund the price you paid for your tickets. Any transaction or processing fees are non-refundable.

If the event is rescheduled

Your tickets will remain valid for the new date. If you cannot attend the rescheduled event, tell us before the deadline we give you and we will cancel your order and refund the ticket price (processing fees are non-refundable). If we do not give a deadline, it will be 28 days before the rescheduled date. If you do not contact us by the deadline, your tickets will be treated as confirmed for the new date and you will not be able to claim a refund.

Changes to the programme

The BVAC Classic is an outdoor event and goes ahead in most weather. The displays, attractions, exhibitors and timings advertised may change before or on the day. These changes do not entitle you to a refund.

Your own arrangements

Travel, accommodation and any other arrangements you make are at your own risk. We cannot be responsible for any costs you lose, even if the event is cancelled, rescheduled or changed.

7.At the event

  • Please follow the instructions of our stewards and event staff at all times.
  • We may refuse entry to, or remove, anyone whose behaviour we consider unsafe, antisocial or likely to spoil the event for others. No refund will be given.
  • Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • The event takes place on a country estate, mostly on grass. Please wear suitable footwear and take care on uneven ground.
  • The event may be photographed and filmed for BVAC publicity. By attending, you accept that you may appear in this material.

Vehicles and parking

Vehicles enter, park on and leave the showground entirely at their owner's risk. We do not accept responsibility or liability for any damage to vehicles while entering, during or leaving the event.

8.Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. Nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Otherwise, our total liability to you in connection with your order is limited to the amount you paid for your tickets. We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for personal belongings brought to the event.

9.Your information

We use the details you give us to process your order, send your tickets, check tickets at the gate and contact you about the event. Please see our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for full details of how we look after your information.

10.Using this website

The content of this website, including text, photographs and logos, belongs to BVAC or is used with permission. You may view and share it for personal, non-commercial use, but please ask us before using it for anything else.

We work hard to keep the information on this website accurate, but event details can change. Please check before you travel. Links to other websites are provided for your convenience; we are not responsible for their content.

11.Changes and governing law

We may update these terms from time to time. The version shown on this page when you place an order is the one that applies to it.

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and any dispute will be dealt with by the Scottish courts. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.

12.Contact us

If you have a question about your order or these terms, we're happy to help.
