This year’s BVAC Classic Festival of Motoring, at Thirlestane Castle on Father’s Day – Sunday 18 June – will celebrate the centenary of the iconic British MG car, with a special display of over 100 pre-war, classic and modern MG’s!
The MG was born in 1923, when its founder, Cecil Kimber designed and built his first MG sports car (the MG Super Sports Morris), in Oxford. Since then, MG has enjoyed a rich history, that has seen it change hands multiple times and produce a plethora of different cars. However, it is still best loved by car enthusiasts for its two-seater sports cars, such as the highly popular MGB which stands as one of the best-selling sports cars of all time.
Visitors to the BVAC Classic will enjoy a journey through this iconic British brand’s history, with extensive MG displays through the ages. There will be fantastic club displays from the MG Car Club Caledonian Centre and the Edinburgh Lothians and Borders MG Club. Amongst over 100 immaculately presented MG’s, visitors can expect to see a 1938 MG TA, an ex-Police 1946 MG TC, through to 1969 MGB’s and more modern MGF models. Some older and rarer examples are also expected to make an appearance for this special event.
Beyond the MG birthday celebrations, the show will feature a huge array of attractions to keep the whole family entertained. There will extensive displays of stunning veteran, vintage and classic cars, a retail area, children’s play zone and activities, arena stunt display’s, pipe band shows and plenty of wonderful food and drink vendors to keep visitors fuelled throughout the day!
In addition, the Sporting Bears will be in attendance, offering visitors the chance to enjoy ’dream rides’ in their fabulous range of exotic cars, in exchange for a modest donation to their children’s charity.
New for this year will be the introduction of a live rally stage, meaning visitors will be able to enjoy the wonderful sight and sound of live motorsport action.
For the first time, BVAC Classic visitors can purchase tickets in advance and grab themselves a bargain with a special advanced ticket price of £10, available to visitors who purchase before 31st May 2023.
Under 16’s, accompanied by an adult, can enjoy free show access and tickets will also be available to purchase on the day, for £15. Well behaved dogs will also be welcome! The show gates will open at 11am and the event will close at 5pm.
