If you don’t already know the area this is a chance to sample the stunning scenery of Upper Tweeddale. Close to the source of the mighty river, this heroic and romantic valley joins the parishes of Stobo, Dawyck and Drumelzier. John Buchan set some of his novels in this area. The gardens have many fine and enormous specimen trees from all over the world. The valley gardens present ever changing vistas of great variety as you walk and contrast with the woodland walks and sculpture trail.
At the time of our visit, if we are lucky, there will be swathes of Meconopsis, the Himalayan blue poppy. The roads around the area offer a fine drive. We hope that you will come in your vintage or Classic auto but if necessary, come in something more modern.
