On Saturday 25th August 35 BVAC members and their cars set off in the sunshine from the front of Thirlestane Castle in Lauder armed with directions and rhyming clues (some easy, some difficult and some downright sneaky!!) all set by devious Daphne.

Eventually all except one team made their way back to The Hawthorns in Galashiels for tea and cake. Entries and answers were checked and the winners of a very closely contested hunt were announced.

Winners Helen & Tony Wilkinson

First prize went to ‘The Dagenham Dustbins’, Helen and Tony Wilkinson in their Ford Anglia Estate with 31 out of 36 points. In second place the father and son duo of William and Thomas Balfour in their 1929 Talbot with 30.5 points and in third place (last year’s winners) Alison and David Hunter in their 1930 Morris 8 Saloon with 30 points.

Runners up William & Thomas Balfour
Third place David Hunter with Vice President Robin Wild

Our Vice President Robin Wild arrived in his 1949 Bentley MK 6 Special to present the trophies. All voted the event a great success and said they thoroughly enjoyed seeing different parts of the beautiful Borders scenery.
