YOUR CLUB IS CORDIALLY INVITED to the 50th running of the BVAC Classic at Thirlestane Castle, Lauder, on 8th June 2025. The show opens at 11 am and, as always, club displays will be the main attraction among the 1000 or so vintage, classic and modern entries expected on the day.
Although the Borders Vintage Automobile Club was founded in 1972, the show has only now reached its 50th anniversary, missing three years due to the foot-and-mouth outbreak of 2001 and the COVID-19 pandemic of 2021/22. With your help, we intend to make the most of this big Birthday!
All makes and models are most welcome, but it’s a special year for the MGA (70 years old), the MGF (30 years old) while the Jaguar Mk.VII and Mk1 saloons and the XJ Coupe all have birthdays – but the fabulous Jaguar XJ-S has reached its golden anniversary – 50 years and counting!
CLUB PRE-REGISTRATION: To assist planning, clubs are invited to pre-register their intention to attend as soon as possible, by completing the Club Registration Form online at www.bvac.org.uk or by post using the print version below. A finalised listing of members attending will be due by 21st April – forms for this will be sent out in April to clubs who have pre-registered.
2025 SHOW TIMETABLE
SATURDAY 7th June: There is no public admission on Saturday, but you are invited to take part in the Borders Scenic Run through the beautiful Scottish Borders. Please indicate on the entry form below if wishing to take part in this enjoyable event, starting from the esplanade of Thirlestane Castle.
SUNDAY 8th June: Entrants are asked to be in place by 10.30am. Vehicles built before 31st December 1999 are entered in the Concours competition in classes 1-10, while classes 11-15 do not have age limits. Class 16 is a non-competitive class open only to current BVAC members with the aim of showing the diversity of members’ cars – vintage, classic and modern, including interesting alternatively powered vehicles. All entrants are encouraged to take part in the Best Combination of Vehicle and Dress Competition. No need to enter, just turn up dressed to join in the fun and listen out for PA announcements for the ring parade and judging.
IMPORTANT: The public are admitted from 11am to 5pm. Due to Health and Safety considerations where vehicle movements take place in live spectator areas, all entrants must remain in place until the show finishes at 5pm and the public have vacated the show grounds. Full details will follow with the entry documents.
ENTRY FEES: Unfortunately, BVAC is now subject to VAT. To ensure the event’s sustainability, we are obliged to pass on this additional cost, so the entry fee is now £12 (inc.VAT) per vehicle. This admits the vehicle, the driver and all its passengers. Current BVAC Members are exempt from this fee.
CAMPING AND CARAVANING: Exhibitors, including those with classic campervans, are welcome to stay overnight in our designated camping area, but not in the showfield arena. The only exceptions, for security reasons, are outside traders and military display personnel. There is a charge of £12 (inc. VAT) per night for vans and caravans or £6 (inc. VAT) per night for tents. Access to the camping area will be from 10am on Saturday. Advanced booking required, please indicate whether your club may require any spaces. N.B. On-site facilities are limited to portable toilets and a water standpipe. Alternatively, fully serviced sites are available at Thirlestane Castle Caravan Park, Tel. 01578 718884 or www.thirlestanecastlepark.co.uk. Early pre-booking essential.
